Amp launches Orbs self-custody: free for individuals, while the enterprise version, which comes with built-in computing power, requires payment.

Beating AI Express News: AI programming tool Amp has launched self-hosting for Orbs. Orbs is a development environment enabling AI Agents to work independently, originally running primarily on Amp’s cloud. Users can now deploy it to their own Macs, Docker containers, or Kubernetes clusters, with support for sandbox platforms including E2B, Modal, and Vercel. Amp handles scheduling, while users’ own machines execute tasks, and environments can be created, paused, and resumed on demand. Individuals and general teams can use self-hosted Orbs for free, though they must cover their own compute and model costs. Starting October 29, the enterprise version requires users to provide their own servers and pay per the same compute standards as Amp’s official hosted Orbs.
