Bitcoin Core adjusts its vulnerability disclosure policy, and will accelerate the remediation and public disclosure of vulnerabilities detectable by AI.

Bitcoin Core, the core software run by the majority of nodes on the Bitcoin network, is adjusting its vulnerability disclosure policy. On Thursday, project maintainers merged a security policy update: for vulnerabilities that can be re-discovered via AI tools, the team will no longer delay disclosing fixes for months as it did previously. Previously, Bitcoin Core classified all reported security vulnerabilities by severity and scheduled disclosure timelines accordingly. Low-severity flaws were disclosed two weeks after the next major version release; medium and high-severity vulnerabilities remained confidential until two weeks after the last affected version reached end-of-life. The original intent of this mechanism was to quietly release fix patches while delaying public disclosure of vulnerability details, to prevent attackers from learning about flaws before users running Bitcoin nodes could complete upgrades. Bitcoin nodes are responsible for verifying and relaying every Bitcoin transaction. However, this framework was built on the premise that discovering vulnerabilities requires specialized technical skills. As AI tools have grown increasingly prevalent, the methods for finding vulnerabilities have shifted, undermining the old mechanism. Bitcoin Core will implement rapid disclosure and remediation for vulnerabilities that can be found simply by inputting basic prompts into AI models, replacing the previous confidentiality period for vulnerabilities that could last around a year. Maintainers noted that this adjustment will speed up fixes for vulnerabilities easily re-discovered by AI, but related updates may not receive the same level of testing before being released to users. This policy update comes amid a surge in AI-assisted security vulnerability reports. A prior review of 390 Bitcoin-related projects identified a total of 4,962 potential vulnerabilities, 85 of which were classified as critical.

Morgan Stanley: Semiconductor stocks’ support level could be 15% lower than current levels.

Morgan Stanley says pressure on semiconductor stocks may ease next month. The strategy team led by Mike Wilson has maintained its year-end forecast for the S&P 500 to reach 8,000 points, while noting that semiconductors—a key sector—could find support at levels well below current prices. As the market grows uncertain about when and how large the revenue opportunities from AI will materialize, semiconductors and other industries benefiting from capital spending have become the "epicenter" of financing concerns. Given potential future financing activities, the team stated: "It is normal for the market to focus on this supply pressure, and this concern is likely to persist until financing is completed." The good news is that the semiconductor sector’s correction has entered its "final phase," expected to wrap up by mid-November. The bad news? Based on their technical analysis and a comparison with the once red-hot silver market, the sector may fall an additional 10% to 15%, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index potentially dropping to around 9,500 points. ViaBTC will attend Crypto Summit 2026 as a strategic partner.

According to official announcements, ViaBTC has confirmed its attendance as a strategic partner at the 9th Crypto Summit 2026, held at Moscow’s MTS Live Hall from October 28 to 29. The summit will gather miners, investment institutions, crypto exchanges, technology service providers, and policymakers to discuss topics including mining infrastructure, digital asset markets, and regulation. ViaBTC is currently among the world’s top four Bitcoin mining pools and operates the largest Zcash (ZEC) mining pool by hashrate. During the event, Anton, ViaBTC’s Director of Business Development, will join a roundtable discussion focusing on changes in the mining landscape. Drawing on ViaBTC’s experience supporting miners through multiple market cycles, he will explore how mining firms can respond to market pressures, improve profitability, and identify new growth opportunities. Alina, the company’s Business Manager, will deliver a speech sharing practical advice on using mining pool services to help miners manage their daily mining operations more efficiently. Additionally, the ViaBTC team will connect with miners and industry partners at Booth S-02 for face-to-face exchanges, sharing a decade of mining service experience and discussing collaboration opportunities. ViaBTC hopes to gain deeper insights into miners’ actual needs through this event, while continuously enhancing the stability of its mining services and the flexibility of its revenue management.

Ethereum Foundation Researcher: Glamsterdam Testnet Upgrade Delayed, EIP-8037 Causes Contract Compatibility Issues

Ethereum Foundation researcher Toni Wahrst?tter announced in a post that core developers last week decided to delay the Hoodi testnet upgrade to Glamsterdam, following a ChainSecurity report uncovering compatibility and security issues between EIP-8037 and certain smart contracts. Identified problems include: residual gas may rise during transaction execution, causing underflow in some gas counting logic and triggering rollbacks, or activating code paths that should not execute, making transactions appear successful. Additionally, some contracts may incorrectly calculate gas consumption during calls, leading to underestimated usage. ChainSecurity previously noted it has found 13 real-world cases and is conducting responsible disclosure with affected projects. Wahrst?tter said further reviews of related contracts will be carried out this week to assess follow-up solutions, which may require collaboration among application developers, core developers, auditors, and node operators. In the worst scenario, protocol specifications may need adjustment. He urged application developers and auditors to verify their contracts’ compatibility with EIP-8037 and EIP-8038, and report issues promptly.
