SK Hynix is set to release its financial results tonight, with a rumor of up to 60 trillion won in shareholder returns drawing attention.

SK Hynix will release its third-quarter 2026 financial results after the U.S. market closes on Tuesday, alongside a new shareholder return plan. Market focus is not only on high-bandwidth memory (HBM) demand and earnings performance, but also whether the company will announce a large-scale special dividend. Other storage manufacturers including Samsung Electronics and Japan’s Kioxia will also report their results in succession. AI infrastructure demand continues to drive an uptick in the storage chip cycle. KB Securities analysts estimate that over 70% of the memory chips South Korea’s two leading storage chip makers plan to produce next year are already covered by five-year supply agreements signed with major tech firms. However, as the market begins to worry about returns on AI capital expenditure and financing costs, investors are paying closer attention to order quality, future demand sustainability, and production expansion pace. On the shareholder return front, South Korean media previously reported that SK Hynix is considering a special dividend of around 16 trillion won (approximately $12 billion); another report noted that the total new shareholder return package could reach up to 60 trillion won (about $45 billion). None of the above figures have been officially confirmed by the company. Earlier, SK Hynix announced it would repurchase and cancel 40 trillion won in treasury stock, and plans to allocate more than 50% of its free cash flow from 2025 to 2027 to shareholder returns. This earnings report and future demand guidance will serve as a key basis for the market to judge whether the AI storage chip supercycle can continue.

Oil prices decline, U.S. stock futures and Treasury prices rise, and Iran's Supreme Leader has called for putting forward conditions to end the war.

Following comments from Iranian leaders, oil prices declined, U.S. stock futures and Treasury prices rose, and the crypto market saw a short-term rally. Earlier, Iran’s Supreme Leader called for proposals to meet conditions for ending the war, prompting a roughly $0.8 drop in both WTI and Brent crude futures. Major General Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, met with Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. The talks covered maintaining national and regional security through management of the Strait of Hormuz, and consolidating bilateral relations with neighboring countries based on lasting mutual benefits. Khamenei stated that the adversaries’ predicament stems from Iran’s persistent national resistance. He emphasized that information should be disseminated proactively and promptly to sustain public participation in efforts to defend the country and its system; meanwhile, relevant conditions put forward by Iranian officials should be implemented to safeguard the rights and interests of the Iranian people and the resistance front, with the goal of ending the war and the “neither war nor peace” situation. Rezaei added that the Supreme National Security Council Secretariat is advancing Iran’s strategic policies, which include “establishing regional arrangements and order led by the region itself.”

Tencent’s Hunyuan open-source AI simultaneous interpretation model delivers around 3-second latency for real-time translation and supports speaker voice cloning.

Beating AI News Flash: Tencent’s Hunyuan has open-sourced the simultaneous interpretation model Hy-SimulMT, supporting real-time bidirectional Chinese-English translation. Unlike traditional models that wait for a full sentence to finish, Hy-SimulMT generates translations while listening to the speaker. When integrated with an additional TTS model, it can clone the original speaker’s voice and deliver translations in another language. The official provides a deployment plan based on Qwen3-TTS. In the RealSI long audio test, the model recorded a streaming translation latency of around 3 seconds—the lowest among all tested systems. Its translation quality outperformed all open-source models in the test and 4 out of 5 commercial APIs. Notably, this 3-second latency does not include full speech synthesis and playback time. The team also enlisted 6 certified professional interpreters to conduct on-site tests on 18 real recordings of speeches, interviews and other content. In this small-scale trial, the model’s translation quality reached professional simultaneous interpretation standards, with generally lower latency. The model has approximately 30 billion total parameters, with about 3 billion activated per inference. Weights, inference tools and training resources are all open, and Tencent’s Hy Translator App also offers free access to the model.
