U.S. regulators are once again investigating Polymarket for potential violations of the settlement agreement reached in 2022.

According to Reuters, citing two sources familiar with the matter, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is again investigating Polymarket for potential violations of its 2022 settlement agreement, focusing on whether the platform has taken sufficient measures to block U.S. users from accessing its overseas main platform. The agency previously closed a similar probe in 2025 without filing charges. This latest review is part of a broader investigation launched by the CFTC earlier this year, covering Polymarket’s controls for verifying customer locations and its U.S. advertising campaigns. One source said the review centers on the company’s past controls and processes. The CFTC is also examining Polymarket’s customer onboarding procedures and consumer protection measures for its U.S. platform. Under the 2022 settlement, Polymarket agreed to stop serving U.S. users. In 2024, the CFTC and the U.S. Department of Justice launched separate related probes, and the FBI searched CEO Shayne Coplan’s New York residence that November. In July 2025, Coplan announced both investigations had concluded. Afterward, the company acquired a CFTC-licensed derivatives exchange and gradually rolled out its U.S. platform by the end of that year. Polymarket has previously stated it has improved its controls, explicitly prohibiting users from using tools like VPNs to bypass geographic restrictions, and has mechanisms to monitor misconduct and block restricted users from accessing its overseas platform. In April this year, U.S. prosecutors charged a service member with using insider information to place bets on Polymarket’s overseas platform, profiting $400,000; the indictment alleged he used a VPN to bypass restrictions. The defendant has denied the charges, and Polymarket said at the time it had referred the matter to relevant authorities.

US warns Gulf nations it may launch a short, intense war against Iran after the midterm elections.

According to a Wall Street Journal report citing people familiar with the matter, the U.S. has asked several Gulf Arab nations to prepare for a short, intense military operation that could occur after the U.S. midterm elections. The messages, conveyed via diplomatic and military channels, are among a growing set of signs that the U.S. and Israel are preparing a new round of heavy strikes against Iran. This could trigger a major escalation, which Washington and Jerusalem aim to use to weaken Tehran’s capabilities and force it back to the negotiating table. Officials aware of the developments said U.S. forces are deploying a Patriot air defense system from Texas to reinforce missile defenses, and have relocated troops from vulnerable bases in preparation for the escalation. Some officials added that U.S. forces in the region have been replenishing ammunition, while bombers and fighter jets are gearing up for strikes. Next month, another aircraft carrier strike group and a Marine Expeditionary Unit will join the existing fleet of around 20 other warships operating in the Middle East, though some vessels may rotate out. People familiar with the matter said President Trump has not yet decided whether to proceed with the plan, but he is leaning toward launching a large-scale attack after the elections, with potential targets including Iran’s infrastructure and nuclear facilities. According to Bitget data, U.S. WTI crude oil and Brent crude oil rose by $0.8 in the short term, currently trading at $100.28 per barrel and $110.37 per barrel respectively.

Discord will allow search engines to index some public chats, and users can opt out via their privacy settings.

Discord announced it will allow search engines including Google to index chat content from select large public servers. The new policy applies to "Discoverable Servers" – servers with at least 1,000 members, listed in Discord’s public directory, and accessible without an invitation. Starting November 16, these servers will get public web pages that may include summaries of discussions in public channels; from mid-December, individual messages from eligible channels may appear in search results. Historical messages posted before the feature launches will not be included, and usernames and profile avatars will not be displayed in public messages. Users can access "User Settings → Data & Privacy" to turn off the option to display messages from discoverable channels on the web; this setting applies to all discoverable servers they join. If a user leaves a server after the feature launches, only messages sent after departure will be protected; to remove previously public eligible messages, users must delete them within Discord, though search engine caches may retain them for a period. The feature is not available to minor users, and is disabled by default in regions including the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, and South Korea. Server administrators can also use "Server Settings → Web Presence" to block messages from the entire server or individual channels from appearing on public web pages and search results, and to disable discussion summaries separately.
