South Korea-listed Samsung Electronics released its official third-quarter 2026 financial results today. Figures show the company recorded 195.3 trillion won in revenue for the quarter, slightly higher than the preliminary figures previously announced; operating profit for Q3 stood at 107.4 trillion won. However, net profit for the quarter came in at 75.2 trillion won, missing the market consensus estimate of 83.6 trillion won. Following the earnings release, Samsung Electronics’ stock price dipped briefly before recovering slightly, and is now up 0.2%. By business segment, the semiconductor division remains the company’s core performance driver. The chip division posted an operating profit of 106.5 trillion won in Q3, accounting for nearly all of the company’s total profit. Among its segments, foundry business revenue saw sharp growth, with the company forecasting double-digit revenue growth for the segment in Q4. In addition, the display business maintained steady profitability, logging an operating profit of 1.1 trillion won. In contrast, the mobile division underperformed, posting an operating loss of 600 billion won in Q3. On the shareholder return front, Samsung Electronics announced a dividend of 4,601 won per share for Q3, with total dividend payouts reaching 30 trillion won. Looking ahead, Samsung’s management is optimistic about the semiconductor market, forecasting continued expansion in demand for memory chips in Q4, and warning that chip supply shortages will worsen next year.

According to Yonhap News, South Korean virtual asset exchange Prabang (???) suffered an asset loss of approximately 100 million won in a hacker attack. The platform has announced it has temporarily suspended services and will fully compensate affected funds using its own assets. Industry sources said Prabang detected abnormal withdrawals from its hot wallet on the 24th of this month, immediately activated emergency response and launched a full investigation, during which a security vulnerability was uncovered. On the 26th, the exchange confirmed unauthorized external access, filed a report with relevant authorities, and continues to probe the cause and scale of losses. Yonhap noted that recent hacker-related incidents have occurred one after another in the financial and virtual asset sectors, but this is the first confirmed case of actual asset loss. The report also pointed out that this incident appears to be separate from the Prabang-related accident mentioned by financial authorities in the AI hack intrusion inspection results on the 14th of this month.
