South Korea's chip exports surged 259% in October, with export value rising 93.7% year-over-year.

Driven by the ongoing artificial intelligence boom, South Korea’s exports continued to post strong growth in October, further boosting the export momentum of its trade-reliant economy. Data released Sunday by South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy shows that, adjusted for working-day differences, October’s exports rose 76.1% year-on-year to $115.3 billion, below the previous month’s record of $121.1 billion. Unadjusted figures show October exports jumped 93.7% year-on-year, imports rose 36%, resulting in a trade surplus of $42.5 billion. South Korea’s revised year-on-year export growth for September was 83.7%. The sustained strong exports have further reinforced market expectations that the Bank of Korea will raise interest rates this month. Semiconductors remain the main driver of export growth: in October, South Korea’s chip exports surged 259% year-on-year to $56.4 billion, computer exports rose 497%, while petroleum products and auto exports increased 80% and 18% respectively. OpenCode Resumes Claude Subscriptions: The service was forced to be taken down in March, and the platform has now secured the required permission.

Beating AI News Flash: Open-source AI coding tool OpenCode has re-enabled Claude subscriptions in its v2.2.3 update. Users only need to install and log in to Claude Code, then select "Claude Agent" in OpenCode to directly use their existing subscription quota, with no need for additional API purchases. In March this year, OpenCode removed its built-in Claude subscription login plugin due to Anthropic's legal demands. This time, it leverages the official Claude Agent SDK to call the user's locally installed Claude Code, which sends model requests directly to Anthropic. OpenCode does not access login credentials. Developer Daniel Smolsky also explicitly noted on GitHub that the team has obtained Anthropic's authorization and complies with the terms of service.

OpenAI officially announced it will merge ChatGPT and Codex usage quotas in December: regular chat users will now have to compete for programming quota, except for the Instant plan.

Beating AI Express, Insight: The shared quota rules previously unearthed from ChatGPT's subscription page by "Bald Guy" Tibor Blaho have now been officially confirmed. OpenAI's latest help documentation clarifies that starting December, ChatGPT and Codex will share a single quota for Plus, Pro, and Business users, while ChatGPT Work's Agent capabilities will be integrated into the regular chat interface. Moving forward, usage will be uniformly calculated based on tokens, with stronger models and more complex tasks typically consuming more quota. However, Instant mode chats will not draw from the shared quota. Users can view their remaining quota and reset time in settings. Ironically, shortly after OpenAI announced doubling quotas for Pro and other plans, it confirmed merging chat and programming services into the same quota pool. The company also reassured users that most will not run out of quota more frequently than they currently do.
