Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated at Devcon 8 that artificial intelligence (AI) aids in identifying vulnerabilities but also introduces new security and privacy risks. He cast doubt on the security of hardware wallets, warned investors to be vigilant against bot accounts and manipulative activities on social media, and cautioned against making cryptocurrency investment decisions based on such posts. Buterin called for the adoption of decentralized, verifiable technologies and zero-knowledge proofs to safeguard personal data, and advised businesses to refrain from collecting non-essential personal information.

U.S. midterm elections are trending toward the Democratic Party, dragging Asian tech stocks lower.

Early Wednesday trading saw broad declines in Asian tech stocks. Preliminary results from the U.S. midterm elections show the Democrats leading, further cementing market bets on a full Democratic sweep. Investors fear this could slow the flow of artificial intelligence (AI) investments into tech-heavy Asian markets. Chris Weston, head of research at Pepperstone, stated: "Whether the Democrats win by a significant margin, or the Republicans unexpectedly take the Senate, could trigger large-scale market position adjustments." U.S. futures tied to the Nasdaq index fell further, dropping roughly 1.5% on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). South Korea’s KOSPI index rose at the open before pulling back, with weak chip stocks weighing on the broader market.

Kim Yo Jong again denied North Korea's involvement in the Binance theft, stating that dialogue with the US remains a peace option.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim Yo-jong, a department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, released a statement once again denying North Korea’s involvement in the Binance crypto asset theft case. She said dialogue with the U.S. remains one option for achieving peace, but is not a necessary condition for upholding North Korea’s national interests. The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Oct. 31 attributed the $6.3 billion Binance crypto asset heist to North Korea, labeling the related cyber activity as “TraderTraitor”. Kim Yo-jong had previously rejected that attribution, calling it a “serious political provocation”; in her latest statement, she described the accusation as just the “tip of the iceberg” of Washington’s hostile policy toward Pyongyang. She also noted that the U.S. abandoning its hostile policy toward North Korea is a prerequisite for resolving the issue, otherwise the DPRK has no reason to negotiate with the U.S. She warned Pyongyang will respond, but did not specify concrete measures.
