This means headwinds for investments in artificial intelligence and data centers may increase, while political gridlock and bargaining over debt ceiling and fiscal policy issues could also intensify."

Franklin Templeton: Democratic Party leading in election race, market risk aversion on the rise.

Franklin Templeton’s Head of Fixed Income for Australia, Andrew Canobi, said the initial reaction of financial markets to the U.S. midterm elections can be summed up as a slight shift of funds from stocks to bonds, showing a certain risk-averse tendency. He added that if the Democrats take control of Congress, markets may view this as a constraint on U.S. President Donald Trump’s growth agenda, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence and resources. Additionally, as traders believe the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) may be nearing the end of its interest rate hikes, Australia’s three-year government bond yield has fallen by 15 basis points since the start of this week.
