OpenAI releases GPT-6 Cyber, a model specialized in cybersecurity vulnerabilities, with its risk rating elevated to 'Critical'.

Beating AI News Flash: OpenAI has recently released the GPT-6 Cyber model to a small group of vetted customers. Designed specifically for discovering and exploiting security vulnerabilities, OpenAI has raised the model’s cybersecurity risk rating from "High" (assigned to its predecessor) to "Critical" under its security framework. OpenAI noted that amid a surge in malicious cyber actors’ attempts to misuse AI, the model is built to help security researchers proactively identify vulnerabilities and test their exploitation, enabling fixes before attackers can act. In test results, OpenAI researchers used the model to uncover 81 previously unknown Firefox vulnerabilities, all classified as "High Severity" by Mozilla and already in the process of being fixed. Additionally, the model assisted in developing working exploit tools for 948 Linux kernel vulnerabilities (including 588 unknown ones), and disclosed 304 critical Linux vulnerabilities along with patch recommendations to maintainers. Currently, GPT-6 Cyber is available to select customers on the "Daybreak Red" advanced authorized security service tier, and will be expanded to all approved customers in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, OpenAI will roll out the early GPT-5.6 Cyber model to relevant customers starting November 5.

OpenAI CFO: Data center investments will not change due to midterm elections.

OpenAI Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar told CNBC in an interview Friday that the company will not adjust its AI infrastructure investment plans in light of the U.S. midterm election results. It will continue partnering with major hyperscale cloud providers and use financing to meet demand from its AI clients. Friar noted the election results will not significantly alter the company’s operations, adding that as data centers gain greater public attention, OpenAI will continue enhancing communication with local communities to build trust. Of the 41 local data center-related ballot measures across 10 states in the midterm elections, only one failed to support construction restrictions or oppose development support, with voters’ primary concerns being that data centers drive up electricity costs, harm the environment, and negatively impact employment. Friar also revealed that OpenAI confidentially submitted an initial public offering (IPO) application to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in June, is targeting a 2027 IPO, and is negotiating a new funding round at a $1.25 trillion pre-money valuation. She emphasized that demand for AI is real and growing continuously.

Nubank suspends cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals in Brazil, citing issues with external service providers.

According to Bloomberg, Brazil-based digital bank Nubank has temporarily suspended cryptocurrency deposit and withdrawal services in its home market due to an issue with an external service provider. In a Friday statement, the company noted that all assets and customer information remain protected, the problem is unrelated to its own infrastructure, and will not compromise client security. Nubank did not name the external partner, adding that other crypto products on its platform are operating normally. The firm has roughly 120 million customers in Brazil, but did not specify the number of clients affected by the suspension. Separately, Binance has been gradually resuming withdrawal services for some assets following a $6.3 billion hack incident. Brazil’s Mercado Bitcoin also announced earlier this week that it will cover the $40 million in losses stemming from a hack attack.

Galaxy's Head of Research: Democratic election victory alters the crypto policy landscape, key legislation expected to see little substantive progress.

Galaxy Research Head Alex Thorn wrote in a post that after the Democrats secured control of both chambers of the U.S. Congress, major progress on key digital asset legislation remains unlikely. Congressional committee leadership will also shift. Elizabeth Warren is poised to take the helm of the Senate Banking Committee, while Maxine Waters is expected to retake control of the House Financial Services Committee. Multiple Republican lawmakers who back the crypto industry lost their races, but the pro-crypto camp did not suffer a full defeat. Stand With Crypto data shows 19 pro-crypto senators and 226 pro-crypto representatives have been elected. Molly White’s tracking indicates that in 12 competitive elections, candidates supported by crypto and AI political action committees lost 9, but all prevailed in the 40 safer races. Reports note House Democrats are discussing expanding Waters’ previously proposed Crypto Investor Consumer Rights Act into a broader crypto market structure bill. Still, Thorn reaffirmed he does not expect Congress to make substantial progress on key digital asset legislation. With no new legislation forthcoming, the SEC, CFTC, and banking regulators have already clarified crypto rules under their existing statutory authority, and the Trump administration has two more years to continue advancing related efforts.
