JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs have cut their AI loan exposure to Volta by approximately $5 billion, underwriting only $1.3 billion of the total.

According to Bloomberg, JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs, while leading the roughly $5 billion loan sale for AI cloud startup Volta Infrastructure Holdings, implemented an unusual risk control arrangement: the two banks underwrote only $1.3 billion in term loans, leaving roughly $3.7 billion in chip-related loans un-underwritten to reduce their own exposure. Sources familiar with the matter said the move aims to guard against risks including investors demanding higher returns for high-risk AI debt, and banks being forced to hold positions when loans fail to sell. The debt is priced at a yield of around 11%, one of the highest levels for AI financing in the leveraged loan market, and the transaction is unrated, which typically makes Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLOs) – the largest buyers of such debt – difficult to participate. Banks usually underwrite entire debt packages to assure borrowers of funding availability, but after suffering losses from unsold loans amid sharp interest rate hikes in 2022, they have grown more cautious about untested AI financing structures. The loan commitment subscription deadline is October 14; JPMorgan had already started gauging investor interest back in August.

Li Yihua: Bitcoin has a strong support level at its 400-day moving average of $81,000, and the current pullback is a temporary correction within the ongoing uptrend.

Yilihua, founder of Liquid Capital, stated that Bitcoin has a strong support level at the 400-day moving average of $81,000, with quick rebounds every time it dips to test this level. Meanwhile, Bitcoin faces a 20-day moving average resistance at $84,000; a decisive breakout would lead to a retest of the key resistance at $86,500, the widely-watched $86,000 correction point. Bitcoin’s price movement is neither linear in rallies nor declines. From a long-term trend perspective, Bitcoin is currently in a bull market uptrend, and he is particularly optimistic about a super bull run for Bitcoin next year. The current dip is just a temporary pullback within the broader uptrend, which underpins the "bearish but not shorting" logic here.

ByteDance’s Seed unit establishes a dedicated AI security department: Yan Lin reports directly to Wu Yonghui, with a key focus on preventing AI agent over-authorization.

Beating AI Flash News: ByteDance’s Seed initiative has announced the establishment of an independent Model Alignment & Preparedness department, led by Yan Lin, head of alignment for ByteDance’s Doubao large language model. The new unit reports directly to Wu Yonghui, head of Seed. Members of the original Responsible AI team and some staff from the Chat team will be transferred to the department. Its core focus is ensuring models comply with safety and authorization requirements even as their capabilities expand. Beyond preventing off-limits chat responses, it will also ensure AI agents do not act arbitrarily when calling tools and executing tasks, and guard against the misuse of high-risk capabilities in the CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear) domain. The team will be responsible for formulating model specifications, conducting safety assessments and alignment training, building protection and risk monitoring mechanisms, and collaborating with external research institutions and third-party evaluators.

Ledger Flex units purchased at Singapore Airport confirmed to have implanted spy modules, escalating hardware wallet supply chain risks.

Former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpelès has publicly confirmed that a Ledger Flex purchased at Metapod in Singapore Changi Airport had a spy module implanted inside it. The device was bought this summer by user Ben Yorke, who had never used it, and was sent for teardown after suspicious scratches were spotted on its casing. Karpelès released teardown photos and videos showing an additional circuit board and wiring hidden at the device’s bottom—part of a newer version of the implant that can steal seed phrases when users set them up, via methods including monitoring screen communications. Earlier, Ledger devices from Malaysian distributor CryptoBilis were found to have implants, resulting in over $86 million in stolen assets. This airport-purchased case further proves the issue is not isolated. The crypto community has also uncovered similar implant traces on devices bought from official distributors in Europe and locations including the Philippines. The implants have evolved from early hand-soldered versions to more concealed mass-produced circuit boards.
