At the "Invest in Germany Summit" fireside chat held in Berlin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang told German Chancellor Merz that Nvidia has invested nearly $1 billion in Germany over the past year, and has become one of Germany’s major venture investors. Expressing confidence in Germany’s science, mathematics and startup ecosystem, Huang noted that roughly half of new companies founded in the past two years are AI firms, urging other investors to act quickly, otherwise high-quality projects will be "snatched up" by Nvidia.

Marko Baricevic, co-founder of Binary Builders — the former core maintenance team for Cosmos SDK — announced on social media that he will formally shut down Binary Builders, ending the firm’s independent operations. According to Marko, most members of the Binary Builders team have joined modular blockchain network Celestia. Marko himself has been involved in Celestia since the project’s early days, speaking highly of the team and expressing strong anticipation for their future collaborative work. However, Marko has opted not to join the team, choosing instead to take a break to recharge and explore new ideas. With the company’s closure, Binary Builders will no longer accept new projects, and its existing validator node business will be transitioned and handed over to Validatus in the coming weeks.

Breaking News from Beating AI Insight: Saudi engineer Abdulrahman Alfozan, accused of planting a listening device in an OpenAI executive meeting room, was denied bail by a U.S. judge on October 19. The Saudi Consulate General in Los Angeles even offered to cover the required bail bond, but the judge noted Saudi Arabia’s nearly unlimited financial commitment was unconvincing. Citing the absence of an extradition treaty between Saudi Arabia and the U.S., the judge ultimately rejected bail due to high flight risk. Newly filed prosecution documents show Alfozan regularly contacted a Saudi royal via WhatsApp between 2025 and 2026. The royal repeatedly invited him to return to Saudi Arabia to work on an AI project, stating “Saudi Arabia needs you more than the U.S.” Alfozan replied with “100” but said he would not resign until his OpenAI stock was finalized. The FBI also found Alfozan used OpenAI’s internal Agent to access the company’s meeting schedules with Saudi government officials. His phone browsing history included a folder named “Saudi Gov Docs,” though its contents have not been made public. Alfozan had planned to take a one-way flight to Riyadh with his wife and children on October 12, but was arrested by the FBI three days before departure. The day after his arrest, his wife and children left the U.S. on business-class tickets purchased by a Saudi military official. The defense claimed the ticket buyer was the wife’s brother-in-law, a private favor, and the original trip was due to the wife’s expiring U.S. visa. Currently, Alfozan is only charged with illegal interception of communications, facing up to five years in prison. Prosecutors suspect he may have eavesdropped for personal commercial gain or to assist Saudi Arabia, but have not proven Saudi Arabia directed his actions, nor have they released evidence confirming confidential information was leaked. The investigation is ongoing, and additional more serious charges may be filed.

At the "Invest in Germany Summit" held in Berlin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz held a fireside chat focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and the future of Germany’s industrial sector. Huang directly advised Merz that Germany boasts deep skills, expertise, and craftsmanship in physical and electromechanical products—its core competitive strengths. However, the ongoing industrial revolution is transformative, offering what could be a once-in-a-generation opportunity that must be seized. The biggest challenge facing most developed regions today is aging populations and shrinking workforces, and Germany’s generations-old craftsmanship and skills are being lost as its population ages. Huang recommended that Germany leverage AI to codify this valuable knowledge and experience, preserving these skills domestically through AI programming and knowledge transfer. He then echoed Merz’s remarks, proposing to "reimagine Germany" with AI as a key opportunity to revitalize the country’s industrial competitiveness.
