North Korea today simultaneously denied any involvement in last year's Bybit hack, implying the United States was the mastermind behind the incident.

According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), North Korea, in a statement denying links to the Binance hack, also noted that last year, the U.S. similarly blamed North Korea for the cyberattack on crypto exchange Bybit. The U.S. misleads international public opinion, creating the false impression that cyber frauds worldwide are all perpetrated by North Korea, which constitutes a serious political provocation against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). North Korea firmly opposes any attempt to politicize cyber issues as a tool for interfering in other countries’ internal affairs, a stance that has long been the consistent policy of the DPRK government. The international community needs to recall again the fact that last year, immediately after the current U.S. administration took office, it announced the seizure of illegally stolen cryptocurrency assets to use as national strategic reserves. One may wonder who the massive stolen crypto funds would end up with once recovered, a question that could reveal clues behind the recent hack incident. On February 21, 2025, Bybit suffered a large-scale theft incident totaling approximately $1.5 billion. The U.S. FBI and multiple on-chain analytics firms subsequently attributed the incident to North Korea’s Lazarus Group (also known as TraderTraitor).

Anthropic IPO faces investor pressure for lower valuation: Targeted valuation drops to $1.5 trillion, with near-$900 billion in compute capacity commitments.

Beating AI News: As tech stocks plunged last week, large institutional investors planning to participate in Anthropic’s IPO have begun demanding a lower valuation, targeting a range of $1.5 trillion to $1.6 trillion. Investors are concerned about overheating in AI investments, headwinds in data center construction, and delayed profit realization from massive computing power outlays. Anthropic has not yet finalized its valuation or share count for the offering, and plans to launch its roadshow as early as next week, targeting a listing in the week of November 16. Some investors are pushing for conservative pricing to leave room for the stock to rise on its first day of trading. On November 2, Anthropic filed an updated S-1/A registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), disclosing total contracted commitments for computing power and infrastructure of approximately $895.4 billion, covering cloud computing procurement, data centers, equipment leasing, and related areas. Of that total, around $447.5 billion is expected to be incurred by the end of 2030, with most of the remainder extending through 2045. Over the next 12 months alone, the company faces approximately $69.8 billion in contractual payment obligations. Anthropic’s third-quarter revenue hit $16.956 billion, rising around 47% quarter-over-quarter, though its second-quarter quarter-over-quarter growth rate had reached 144%. Operating profit shifted from a $974 million gain in Q2 to a $567 million loss in Q3. The company attributed the Q3 loss to several factors: roughly $5 billion in computing power sourced from pricier short-term contracts, about $2 billion in non-cash employee donation matching expenses, and around $6 billion in revenue growth offset by new model price cuts and client agreement discounts.

Qianwen’s monthly active users (MAU) surged 5077% year-on-year, topping the growth rate ranking of 100-million-user-level apps, though it lost 9 million users compared to June.

Beating AI News (from Dongcha) reports that QuestMobile’s latest ranking shows Qianwen App’s monthly active users (MAU) hit 158 million in September 2026, surging 5077% year-over-year to rank first in growth rate among all apps with over 100 million MAU. Among China’s native AI app rankings, Qianwen takes second place, surpassing DeepSeek’s 123 million MAU, though it still lags far behind top-ranked Doubao’s 419 million MAU. This growth is fueled by Alibaba’s large-scale promotion efforts. Last November, Tongyi App was renamed Qianwen. During this year’s Spring Festival, Alibaba launched a 3 billion RMB free-order campaign allowing users to order milk tea and takeout directly via AI; the campaign link went viral on WeChat groups, and the system experienced lags due to surging traffic. QuestMobile data shows Qianwen’s daily active users (DAU) jumped from around 7.06 million to 58.48 million on the campaign’s first day. However, the 5077% growth rate is distorted by last year’s low base: reversing the year-over-year data, Qianwen’s MAU in September 2025 was only around 3.05 million. This year, Qianwen’s MAU reached 166 million in March, rose to 167 million in June, but fell to 158 million in September, a 5.4% drop from June.
