OpenAI Unveils Images 2.6: Converts Single Photos to GIFs, Boosts Image Generation Speed by 50%

Beating AI News Brief: OpenAI releases Images 2.6 image generation model, ChatGPT can now directly create GIFs. Input a text description or upload a photo to bring images to life. Users can also adjust animation speed, edit frame by frame, and even turn simple hand-drawn sketches into moving cartoon characters — operations that previously couldn’t be completed in one step on ChatGPT. Besides animating images, the new version solves a common pain point in image generation: repeated edits often distort characters, products, and even brand logos. Images 2.6 enhances consistency across multi-round edits, while boosting image generation speed by 50%. Developers can access two new models via API: Flare prioritizes speed, generating images in as fast as 6 seconds even at low quality; Sunburst focuses more on image quality and details, ideal for complex designs requiring repeated edits. Additionally, the API now supports marking areas for modification on images, exporting SVG vector graphics, and adjusting the model’s processing intensity for complex scenes. This update is now available to all ChatGPT and Codex users worldwide across all subscription tiers, with both models launched on API. OpenAI disclosed that global users now generate around 4 billion images weekly via ChatGPT, Codex, and API — a 1 billion increase from September this year, just two months prior.

Digital Chamber of Commerce: Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown’s election win is the "most significant adverse outcome" for crypto.

According to The Block, U.S. crypto lobbying group Digital Chamber has labeled the victory of Democrat Sherrod Brown in Ohio’s Senate election as the “most consequential unfavorable result for the crypto industry.” The group noted that Brown’s policy priorities on financial stability, consumer protection, bank regulation, and combating illicit finance could influence the Democratic Party’s overall stance and policy direction on crypto assets. Brown previously served as chair of the Senate Banking Committee, taking a cautious approach to digital asset legislation and regulation while stressing risks related to illicit finance. During the recent midterm elections, crypto-focused political action committees (PACs) poured substantial funds into efforts to block his return to the Senate, but were unsuccessful. Digital Chamber’s latest comments further underscore the crypto industry’s concerns over a tightening regulatory environment following shifts in Congress’s makeup.

Keling 4.0 Flash is fully open: generates videos up to 20 seconds long, and supports Agents and Adobe plugins.

Beating AI Express: Kuaishou’s Kling AI has announced that Kling 4.0 Flash is now available to all users. The full version of Kling 4.0 was previously fully launched, but the Flash variant—focused on fast, low-cost video generation—had been exclusive to Black Gold annual card members since September 28. Flash retains core capabilities including text-to-video, image-to-video, and multi-material reference generation, though it makes trade-offs in video specifications and control precision. It generates a maximum 20-second, 720p video per run, while the full version supports up to 30-second, higher-resolution videos and enables scene change control via multiple keyframes. Flash currently lacks support for start/end frame or multi-keyframe control. Developers can now integrate this lightweight model into AI Agents via API, MCP, and CLI for automated, bulk video generation. Kling also offers an Adobe plugin, allowing creators to call the model directly in Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects without frequent switching between creation tools.
