Keel's third quarter report: The company liquidated approximately 2,520 Bitcoin to raise $192 million, shifting its focus to AI data center operations.

Keel Infrastructure, formerly crypto mining company Bitfarms, released its third-quarter results for the period ending September 30, 2026. The firm sold 2,520 bitcoins during the quarter, comprising roughly 2,261 from its existing inventory and 259 mined in the same period, raising a total of approximately $192 million. Its bitcoin holdings at quarter-end were negligible. Revenue from continuing operations came to around $28 million, down year-over-year from roughly $68 million, primarily due to the company’s deliberate pause of U.S. bitcoin mining operations starting in the second quarter to advance high-performance computing (HPC) and AI development, as well as a decline in average bitcoin prices. On the operational front, Keel stated it obtained all required permits and broke ground at its Moses Lake site in September, which is expected to be the first facility to power on and generate HPC revenue in 2027. Permit approvals for its Sharon and Panther Creek sites are ongoing, while lease negotiations for three nearby locations remain underway. As of November 4, the company had unrestricted cash liquidity of approximately $780 million, with no need for additional debt or equity financing before signing leases. Net loss from continuing operations was roughly $62.39 million, and adjusted EBITDA recorded a deficit of around $27.45 million.

Qualcomm's core business has declined across the board, with its pre-market shares dropping more than 12%.

According to data from the BIT Stock Platform, Qualcomm (QCOM) saw its pre-market shares fall more than 12% at one point, and are now down 11% at $154.4. The decline is mainly driven by negative factors from its Q4 2026 fiscal year earnings report and guidance released on November 4. Mobile chip revenue in Q4 2026 plummeted 26% year-on-year to $5.14 billion, missing market expectations. Additionally, rising memory and wafer costs due to AI data center demand significantly pressured margins: QCT’s pre-tax margin dropped from 29% to around 24%. While the company has implemented price hikes, full benefits will not materialize until the second half of fiscal 2027. Meanwhile, the midpoint of Qualcomm’s Q1 2027 fiscal year Non-GAAP EPS guidance ($2.15–$2.35) is below market expectations. Apple’s self-developed baseband chips continue to erode its revenue, and the company forecasts the overall mobile phone market will stay flat in 2027. Though new businesses such as automotive and data centers are growing strongly, they are not yet sufficient to fully offset the decline in core operations, leading multiple institutions to cut Qualcomm’s price targets.

Fed's Harker: Gradual interest rate hikes are less disruptive, and he favors frequent, small adjustments to interest rates.

In 2026, FOMC voting member Harker will deliver a speech on stablecoins and safe-haven currency exchange rates. He stated that monetary policy needs to shift to a restrictive stance, noting that inflation has remained too high and is moving in the wrong direction, and gradual interest rate hikes cause less disruption to the economy and financial system. Harker also emphasized that the U.S. dollar remains the world's top reserve currency, adding that it is hard to envision the dollar losing its reserve currency status. He further pointed out that the independence of the U.S. central bank is critical to bringing inflation down to the 2% target, and favors frequent, small-scale interest rate adjustments.

Analysis: Trump unlikely to interfere with Fed appointments post-midterm elections, markets eye interest rate hike outlook.

Following the U.S. midterm elections, the Democratic Party secured control of both chambers of Congress, narrowing the White House’s room to influence the Federal Reserve through personnel appointments. Nominations for Federal Reserve Board governors require Senate confirmation, posing obstacles to former President Donald Trump’s plans to further reshape the Fed’s board composition. Fed Chair Jerome Powell, appointed by Trump in May, raised interest rates by 25 basis points in September against the backdrop of inflation remaining above the 2% target, marking the first monetary policy tightening in three years. While the Fed paused rate hikes at its October meeting, its post-meeting comments reinforced market expectations of another tightening in December. Some economists argue the election outcome will allow Powell to focus more on monetary policy itself. Dalip Singh, chief global economist at PGIM, projects the Fed may raise rates by a cumulative 100 basis points over the next year. However, analysts note that if Trump adjusts his policy toward Iran or abandons further tariff hikes, the actual degree of tightening may not expand after inflationary pressures ease. Powell’s term as Fed chair runs through 2030, extending beyond Trump’s current presidential term. Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren is expected to lead the Senate Banking Committee, and Powell’s policy stances and disclosure practices may face stricter oversight.
